Playing on the iconic imagery of Baron Bomburst’s blundering spies from classic, childhood British cinema, Vulgarian Peekaboo provokes a contemplation on the complexities of surveillance and the fragility of security in today’s interconnected world. Daniel contrasts a dream-like aesthetic, representing the sense of security provided by such surveillance, with the unsettling feeling of being watched. Through visual story-telling, a glimpse of the « spies » peeking into the frame, Daniel provokes a contemplation on the psychological impact of constant surveillance and the erosion of personal privacy in our modern society.
